My first impression about this series is coming up with Outer Banks because the series feels like a summer vacation spot. The female lead falls into a love triangle relationship with brothers similar to Kissing Booth. Also, a teen female lead dramatically gets to become pretty after taking off the braces, and physically growing up pulls boys' attraction. A rite of passage is unavoidable, commonly a prom party but the series includes debutante ball which is not a typical American coming-of-age routine nowadays.
The story on the Cousins' summer beach has Isabel 'Belly' Conklin(Lola Tung)'s debutante episode and a love triangle between her first love Conrad Fisher(Christopher Briney) at a younger age, and Conrad's outgoing brother Jeremiah(Gavin Casalegno), Belly's novelist mom Laurel Park(Jackie Chung), and her best friend Susannah Fischer(Rachel Blanchard)'s friendship, Belly's brother Steven Conklin(Sean Kaufman)'s summer part-time job in a country club for having a goal go to Princeton.
Season 1 is easy to watch because the drama pictures high teens' daily life during summer vacation without unique events. It also has a typical teen drama format, having new face stars with distinctive charm. It is fun to watch, yet it feels like Disney family drama than teen drama.
