K-drama 'The Kidnapping Day' Ep. 1, 2 Review (c) ENA
The kidnapper, Kim Myung-jun(Yoon Kye-sang), accidentally hits a young girl with his car on the day of the abduction. To his surprise, the girl he kidnaps, Ro-hee(Yu-na), suffers from amnesia. He decides to pose as her father and deceive her. However, when he attempts to contact Ro-hee's parents to demand a ransom, they did not answer his calls.
Meanwhile, in the past, Myung-jun faced financial difficulties due to the surgery and medical expenses for his daughter, Hee-ae, who had leukemia. Hye-eun, his ex-wife but she returns after three years, urges Myung-jun to commit a crime to cover Hee-ae's medical bills.
As Myung-jun realizes that Ro-hee's parents are not responding to his demands, he decides to visit their house in person. The story continues from there.
Upon watching the show, it immediately evokes the Stockholm Syndrome, as the kidnapper and the kidnapped girl begin to form a connection. Ro-hee may have become a subject of a special experiment conducted by her deceased father, which builds a layer of their relationship beyond the conventional criminal and victim roles.
The question remains: How will their relationship develop in the future? Although it's too early to predict, it seems that Myung-jun and the intelligent Ro-hee will become buddies as they uncover the mysteries surrounding Ro-hee's father's secret lab, albeit facing the daunting task of evading Detective Sang-yoon(Park Sung-hoon), who is tracking Myung-jun's trail.
It will be interesting to see how 'The Kidnapping Day' manages to avoid the pitfalls of the Stockholm Syndrome and transform it into a human comedy."
In K-drama 'The Kidnapping Day' Yoon Kye-sang, who appeared in the Disney+ drama "Kiss Six Sense," plays the role of kidnapper Kim Myung-jun. Kim Shin-rok, who appeared in Netflix's "Sweet Home 2," takes on the role of Seo Hye-eun. Park Sung-hoon, known for his role in Netflix's "Squid Game 2," portrays Detective Park Sang-yoon.
