There is Jeff who was exposed to fake the scholarship and needs new scholarship, Abed who is worrying between father's wish and his dream, Troy who injured his shoulder and wants to study, Annie who was addicted into drugs but gets to start new fresh life in college, Pierce who retired from his job and comes to enjoy his old age with studying, Shirley who was hurt by a lover and divorced, and Britta who starts to study at 28 years old.
All of the members in the Spanish study group are normal, ordinary people from various backgrounds. They represent self-conscious and self-observed people in a contemporary era. All who have a loose screw are our ordinary face.
Anyway, it is an old social habit of human beings to join the community and belong there. At first, when we belong to the community, it is not supposed to run easily. People who are from various hometowns, backgrounds, characters, and cultures plan to survive in a new community , assessing others with preoccupation, prejudice and standards they hold. It is all 'Community' would like to show.
As soon as they meet, they start to quarrel. Shirley's saying causes to hurt Annie's feeling and Shirley's counter attack makes troubles that have infected all the members in a study room. The rest is omitted (not clear what it means), finally everyone's arguments get to come to Abet who is suddenly complaining about his father who suggested he smoke a cigarette at Christmas and all things become a mess.
Jeff says to members in the study room "you are all better people than you think you are" , which refers each members' trivial merits that are underacknowledged. It is a real message that 'Community' wants to show us implicitly. We sometimes show annoying parts to others and cause them to get annoyed because of our projection or theirs. So when we belong to a community, we hate, envy, and conflict one another.
Next time Jeff let them look at the person sitting next to themselves to make up with them each other and let them say "I forgive you". Finally He declares. "You've just stopped being a study group. You have become something unstoppable. I hereby pronounce you a community."
Therefore, they get to make up with all? Never! Now this is a starting point to learn their real stories. Even if we knew the answer such as the peace of the world we have continued on fighting each other. But, I am sure that a writer couldn't give up the reconciliation while the drama is proceeding.
When you watch 'Community' at first, you may feel with full of fresh ideas for the series. Sometimes there are some moments you feel how wonderful or distracted these ideas are. Once you get familiar with the characters, you start tolerating a character's naughty deed and favoring their looks and personalities, you may feel the twenty minutes of the drama go faster.
At the moment you could associate these characters with someone or people of a real community you belong to. What the person is doing is annoying, but you can't or couldn't hate it.
In community, we might be annoying individuals to someone, simultaneously, we could be better to one another.
